Chapter 2: Bloody Bitch

Dealing with an undead being was not easy. First of all there was the foul breath. It’s like these zombies never heard of breath mint. I would puke if I didn’t have to hold back the tremendous strength. However, breath was still tolerable as compared to the pus-excreting skin. While trying to defend myself from that seemingly unrelenting bite, I had to grip tight onto both arms. For some reason, the skin was stripping off with coagulated blood and pus staining my hands. It was utterly repulsing. Of course, the hideous facial feature beat the rest to top. I couldn’t even look at it for more than 3 seconds.

Anyway, its saliva was dripping onto my cheeks. It was somewhat similar to an irritant because I felt uneasy as soon as the drool hit my face. Thank God I didn’t swallow any of it. Who knew what would happen to me if I did. Unwillingly to turn into a zombie, I decided to kick its abdomen, sending it flying towards the wall behind it. I spat at the ground after realizing the disgust I just experienced.

The zombie, then, began picking herself up but her neck tilted to one side. It seemed the impact against the wall broke her neck. I didn’t know I had it in me. Without giving it the advantage to ambush me again, I grabbed my 5.5litres water bottle (or tank) and smashed it onto that ugly face senseless. Blood splattered everywhere and some onto my shirt (CURSE YOU!!!)

A couple of beatings later, I stopped seeing the bloody mess I had made on her face. Now, she became uglier. I let out a few pants and sighs. Overwhelmed by what I just did, I couldn’t believe fiction had become reality. Zombies had crossed the boundaries of media. Now, they were rooming my condo or probably the entire world. Information was vague. There was no news or whatsoever last I checked on the net. Could zombies arise within a night just like that?

That was an answer I had to wait because the female zombie was reaching out its hand towards my thigh. According to all the zombie movie I’d watched and games I’d played, I was supposed to severe its brainstem, thus, killing it (again?). But there were films illustrating that even if one decapitated its head, the head would still be alive. I knew since I did a report on zombies on received a decent mark for it.

As for now, more smashing was required. As more blood splattered the wall around me, the bitch was still moaning. Enough was enough! I decided to drag her over the balcony and threw her over the railings to please my sore hands. There was a long silent until...SPLASH!

It hit the ground hard. Brain matter flew everywhere and that put a smile on my face. But I was still covered in goo. A bath was needed. Still, I was satisfied that I killed my first zombie. That satisfaction ended when I heard the next shambling across the hall. It was the boyfriend.

It was de javu to me but hey, only the strong shall survive~

Chapter 1: Darkness Befell

On the night of 21 January, there was a blackout in the whole Sunway campus, including the condominiums and apartments. The workers in the area claimed there was a power failure due to the extensive construction undergoing to expand Sunway University. Little did the staff and students know, something inexplicably evil was luring in the dark.

It was early morning, approximately 3.30am and the air was damp and cool. Together with the tiny stars, the moon gleamed with her natural beauty, catching my attention as I walked towards my residence area. The security guards were slacking off in the guard house while their radio played a soothing melody. I didn’t blame them for a night like this doesn’t come much in Malaysia.

Due to the blackout, the whole residence area was pitch black with tall condominium buildings stretching towards the sky. Despite the frightening scene, the view was quite alluring with no lights to distract the minimal natural beauty surrounding the area. With the exception of the guard house which contained its own power source. I proceeded further for it was late and I had an early class the next day. It was, however, exciting since I rarely went out for yum cha until this late and I had never seen the campus this late at night either.

Suddenly, there was a scent of foul odour hanging in the air. Unmistakenly, it was the smell of rotten flesh. The stench was too much for me to bear and I could feel the source of the smell was closing by. Due to the limitation of light, I couldn’t make out a figure in front of me whom I believed gave off the stench. I did not intend to find out who or what the figure was.

I walked...I walked...As the figure came nearer and the smell intensified...I ran...I ran...until...

“HEY!!!”

It was then I realized I almost ran into the garbage collector. Apparently, someone did not dispose their unfinished meat properly. According to the guy, it was rotting in the kitchen of one of the tenants. Obviously, sloth is a major a sin among people nowadays.

Moving on, I managed to find my way towards the elevator in the dark. To my dismay, it was out of service due to the power shortage. Believed me, I wanted to curse at management officers. To make matter worse, I lived at the 11th floor and my only way up was the stairs. No lights, utter darkness and scary dark hallways.

I only had two choices. Either I remained at the gro

und floor while waiting for the power to come back on or I walked the stairs. The problem was both choices were equally petrifying. In addition, my imagination started to take over and all the Asian ghost-women/yokai/whatever came alive.

Without hesitation, I sprinted towards the stairs and ran up as fast as I could. Since it was completely dark, I had to use to railing as a guide. Halfway through, I heard something from below - a distinct moan. The sound was faint and it could be my imagination as well. I was exhausted from lack of sleep and the running, a deadly combination which enhanced my imagination even further. Each corner I turned, I expected some disfigured entity to pop out and man-slaughter me with its sick demented method.

As soon as I reached the designated floor, I swiftly unlocked the door to my room and hugged Penggy, placating myself that it was all in my mind. Unbeknownst to me was that the moan I heard was real.

Of the memories locked up in my head, this was the only flashback I had as the zombified bitch tried to bite a chunk of my neck.

Living in A Dead World: Preface

The day began with a shriek.

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Startled, I threw my plushie, Penggy across the room. The entire room was utterly dark. The only source of illumination was the moonlight from which the windowpane provided access to. For some reasons, the megamall, Sunway Pyramid was not gleaming with its usual lights. Even at the depth of night, there would at least be some illuminations from not just the Pyramid but all the malls so that the government has an excuse to increase the country taxes from the excess energy wastage.

However, sight was not my main concern. What annoyed me, as I checked my handphone for the time, was that who in their right mind would scream at 3.33a.m in the morning. Still in my semi- conscious state, I thought of going out to check on the situation. Only then it occurred to me that my housemates might be having their usual brawl. Two out of eight of my housemates are from China, so I heard. They are a couple but they do more of the shouting than the cuddling. Ever since I moved here earlier this month, I have been enduring with the occasional screaming or bickering across the hall. Or they could be engaging in a rough sex.

Finding myself couldn’t care less, I crawled over my bed and fumbled the junks on my floor for Penggy. My mind went blank again the moment I found it. Thank Lord there was no more sudden screaming after that. Time slowly crept and before I knew it, it was morning.

Since it was the weekends, I didn’t bother to be an early bird. Plus, all my collegemates went back to their respective hometown for the Chinese New Year celebration with the exception of those who live around the area. Same as last year, I chose to stay back for the celebration as I have no intention of being nagged at by my next of kin.

Moving on, I shambled towards the bathroom to take leak after my slumber ended. My vision was still blurry at the moment. Thus, I overlooked a crimson stain on a wall. After the duty was done, I went to the kitchen to wash my hands because the sink in the bathroom stank of rusty pipes (Hygiene is important). While scurrying along to the kitchen sink, I accidentally knocked into one of my housemates. (Told ya I have a blurry vision)

I realized she was the girlfriend and she was still in her pyjamas, probably just woke up. Feeling a tad embarrassed for running into her and the fact that I was in my boxer, I apologized but the housemate gave no comment. Expecting the rudeness, I didn’t even bother looking back at her after I finished washing. With her head slumped to one side, she stood still in the middle of the kitchen and I thought to myself, “my housemates are retards!!!”

By then, awkwardness already settled in so I sprinted across the hall and into my room. Before I entered, I noticed the front door was open. I thought of closing it but decided to leave it for the girl might want to take a stroll downstairs in her pyjamas. Another weird thing about her was that she let out a distinctive moan when I sprinted pass her. To that moment, another realization came to me, “my housemates are both retards and perverts.”

Subsequently, the door was slammed shut and locked and I was staring at the computer screen while listening to Poker Face. Moments later, there was a bump on my door. Still in my boxer, I tuned down the volume and asked who was there. My only reply is a pitiful moan. Then there was another bump.

Perplexed, I moved closer to the door and asked the same thing again.

BANG!!!

It seemed that she was banging on the door with both hands now, continuously. Feeling offended, I opened the door and gave her a piece of my mind. Apparently, she wasn’t interested in starting an argument. Without any hesitation, she hurled herself at me with both her arms gripping on my shoulder. Overwhelmed by the incredulous strength, I crashed onto the floor.

Directly above me was a face of absolute horror.

Happy Reading

Overwhelmed by the mundane life, my imagination has decided to take over. Without a specific timing, I would randomly post a fantasized story of me trapping in a world infested with zombies. In the matter of first person perspective, I would detail my survival in this harsh world. I’m a zombie fan so do not question my selection for this particular monster. Elements from the media will be used, especially the Resident Evil Series and The Walking Dead. Expect vulgarity, discrimination and bloodshed =D

^.^Happy Reading^_^
