As I slowly rot away in my room over the course of this Chinese New Year, I found several new info that will surely thrill a geek like me. For instances,there is the new Pirates of the Caribbean Lego coming soon.

Ain't Jack Sparrow just the cutest ruthless pirate? XD

Besides the usual Lego in the box, there's also a video game for the latest franchise. Here's a teaser video for it.



The Lego Sparrow will shipwreck to stores, most likely in conjunction with the new Pirates movie. Yes, they are still making another one. This time the main villain is, no, not Will Turner as Davy Jones, but the infamous Blackbeard, a real life pirate.

Speaking of shipwrecks, Lara Croft, the tomb raiding hottie, also has another game installment but from what I heard, they reboot the whole series...again. *sigh*

Anyway, the new game would detail her first exploration as a tomb raider. The details are scarce but I do know that she is shipwrecked on one of the islands in the Japanese archipelago.

This is her new look and she supposed to be 21 or sth.

Now, regarding the story. From what my speculation, judging by the images above, it might have something to do with Amaterasu, the Shinto sun goddess and her brother Susanoo, the Shinto god of the wind and storm. As myth the goes, Susanoo brought darkness over the world and the petrified Amaterasu hid herself inside a cave. Since she is the Sun goddess, the world plunged into eternal darkness. The other deities had tried every possible way to coerce to goddess out but she rejected them all. One goddess, Amenouzume, hatched an idea and decided to perform a silly dance in front of the other male gods. They laughed hysterically and this attracted Amaterasu's curiosity. So, she tried to come out of her cave as subtle as possible. Unbeknownst to her, Amenouzume placed a mirror right in front of her cave. Seeing the beautiful lady in the reflection (her herself), she then chose not to hide anymore and forever shines in the sky. Narcissist right?

Well, one of the image shone what seems to be a person with a sun behind him/her. That's my guess anyway.
Until the latest game debut, we will never know...lolx

FF: Three

Spoilers alert

For avid comic readers, they would know the current situation surrounding Marvel first family superhero team. Writers for Fantastic Four had forewarned readers that in the upcoming issues, one of the FF members will die. Title for this arc is Three.

Those who absolutely have no idea regarding the current issues, let me break it down to you. A bunch of predicaments occur in the FF family. Each of them has their own challenges to face as illustrated above. Honestly, the FF comic is a complicated story involving aliens and science.

Though I am never a huge fan of FF comic, I do know that Johnny Storm aka Human Torch was the one who met his demise. He heroically saved his family while sacrificing himself in the negative zone. And where is the negative zone? Again, you must read the FF comic to fully understand their situation. All I know is negative zone is another dimension filled with monsters and creepy crawlies.

From now on, Human Torch will not appear in FF comic. I honestly will miss his funny demeanor and cruel sense of humor. I salute you, Johnny Storm!!! Now let's just hope the writers won't bring you back from the grave like what they did with Captain America because I hate this die-resurrect thing going on in comic universe nowadays. I mean, if they wanna kill a character off, make sure he stays death out of respect for him.

(PS. THANK GOD SUSAN STORM DIDN'T DIE OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE CURSED THE WRITERS XD)

Comic Movie Updates~~

For this whole horrendous week, 2 major soon-to-release comic films just gave us a bit of their appetizer. Let start with something darker. Ever since the mantle was entrusted on Christopher Nolan's hands, Batman has never been more popular. With the success of The Dark Knight, Nolan is currently working on the sequel, The Dark Knight Rises and he had been tormented fans like me for months until a few days ago. He released the major bad guys in the films with a shocking twist. Guess who the new villains or villainess are?

1. Talia's Al Ghul

2. Bane

3. Catwoman/ Selina Kyle

That's not the surprising part. What is jaw-dropping is the actor and actress. The actress for Talia is currently unknown (will update soon). For those who are unaware of her existence, she's the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, the guy who trains Bruce to become Batman. You can watch him and his arrogance in the first film.

Anyway, ain't sure who her live actress is but I surmise that she will avenge her father one way or another.

Back to the main puzzle, who are the live counterpart for the other two?

Wait for it...........

That's right! Anne Hathaway will be portraying Catwoman. Suitability? That's up to you to decide. As for the muscle man Bane, Tom Hardy will take the role. You might remember Mr Hardy from Inception. He's the one who has the ability to shapeshift in dreams.

As for Bane, he made his debut back in 1997 and the movie did him bad, very very bad. Let's hope Tom can remedy that though I still think he is a bit feeble to portray Bane. However, I can rest assure that Nolan won't disappoint me.

From DC, we move on to Marvel. That is where I'm really upset. Also in this week, the first teaser poster of X-Men: First Class came out.

Believe it, there's another X-men movie hitting the cinemas this summer. The teaser is cool but the cast...I can't say the same.

I almost cried when I saw this.

The front two gents are Magneto and Xaxier

Bear in mind this is set in the 1960s so they are supposed to look young

As for Moira, she's a scientist helping the X-Men in times of need

She appeared in X-Men 3.

Angel/Tempest is one of the new mutants from recent comics.

I have no idea why she is here

The bitchy yet elegant Emma is... *drool* ...

I think I like her the most among this cast.

Second last row depicts Azazel and Havok

Azazel is a demon and father of another famous X-men - Nightcrawler

Havok, on the other hand, is the brother of another prominent X-Men - Cyclops

Last but not least, the furry guy in the middle is Beast.

Not exactly a good combination right? I have my hopes up but I'm paranoid it's gonna be crushed. The upside to this is that the picture above is a leaked photo. Hence, the characters are not in their proper pose or uniforms or whatever Bryan Singer has in his mind.

No matter, I'm still watching this movie and The Dark Knight Rises as well. Just hope even Magneto can old everything together

Spidey!!!

Marvel has been too kind to release a photo of the upcoming Spider Man movie. Bear in mind that it is a REBOOT!!! So, begone Tobey Mcguire and Kristen Dunst. Heck, Mary Jane won't appear in the movie anyway. Again, another misconception horribly ruined by the movie franchise. Contrary to the non-comic geeks' belief, Mary Jane was not Peter Parker's first girlfriend. It was another girl named Gwen Stacy who made her debut in Spider Man 3. So get your facts straight before watching the movie and don't complain about it due to your false beliefs. XP

I'm stern when it comes to comic originality. HOWL~~~

Arkham City - Hugo Strange

YAY!!!!!!!!!! The first real trailer of the game XD The teaser trailer from the previous post didn't show much but this one gives us a glimpse of the first villain from the upcoming Batman game - Batman: Arkham City. It's the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Those of you who watch the above trailer will figure out that the villain is actually Hugo Strange (like duh).

You can tell by his obvious mad scientist appearance that he's smarter than most of batman's roster of villains. In fact, he's actually a master of psychology with a genius-level of intelligence. However, like all Batman's villains, he's just as insane and obsessed.

For Hugo, his obsession dwells around finding out the identity of Batman. He succeeds of course but it takes a toll on his sanity. The dude even dresses up as Batman and fights crimes. LOL. He does more harm than good, mind you. Hehe.

Moving on, his objectives for this game is evidently messing with Batman's head by threatening him that his identity is at stake. That's just an assumption of course. Shall update when more info are revealed. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer and its graphic ^^

Geek Alert!!!

Finally!!! After so long (approximately 3 months) of waiting for the trailer, it's finally out!!!

What am I talking about? Why...only a Marvel Comic zealot would know.

THOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SON OF ODIN, WARRIOR OF ASGARD, OWNER OF MJOLNIR...etc etc etc

For those of you who are left in the dark, Thor is one of Marvel prominent character with god-like power. In fact, he is a god. Loosely based on Norse mythology, Thor is one of the original avenger, alongside Iron Man, Captain America. However, the movie focuses on his exile to Midgard (Earth) where he has to learn morals among humans. (He used to be an arrogant, conceited barbarian) XD

Furthermore, that ain't the only good news for geeks like me. Batman: Arkham City also released its teaser trailer to taunt fans like me (CURSE YOU!!! >.<)

Long story short, Arkham Asylum was relocated to downtown Gotham and in the prison itself, crimes are rising. Plan Batman: Arkham Asylum then you will figure out the mystery like Batman himself XP

TOMB RAIDER 9!!!!!

That's right raiders, the next Tomb Raider game is well on its way to the shelves. This time, the story will focus on her origin as how she becomes who she is today. Just look at the image. It's so life-like

The Walking Dead

I have no idea why but ever since I first played Resident Evil, I am forever hooked onto the subject of the living dead. On 31 October, my zombie hype went higher because it is the premiere of the latest TV series - The Walking Dead.

This brand new TV series is currently showcased on AMC network. It is based on the popular comic of the same name whereby a group of survivors strove to live in the apocalyptic zombie world. In Malaysia, the show is broadcast on Astro Channel 710 (if I'm not mistaken).

The comic is written by Robert Kirkman who also came up with Marvel Zombies where all Marvel characters turned into a undying zombies. The show, on the other hand, was produced by Frank Darabont. He is known to be working alongside Steven Spielberg in some of Steve's major films.

Although The Walking Dead isn't made into a major film, it's actually better than any zombie films I've seen (for now). The dialogue doesn't suck and the acting is realistic enough, albeit some who are a tad emotional. Another reason why I like the show so much is because it consists of diverse characters, ranging from African American to Korean.


The Characters (Spoilers alert!!!)

The above picture shows the main characters both in the comics and the programme. Another realistic thing about this series is that major characters die before the minor ones. Quite depressing but makes it more interesting.

Here's a really brief description of all the prominent characters because they are tons of them.

Name: Rick Grimmes

Role:

He's the protagonists of the whole series. He's a small town cop who is put into a coma during a shoot-out (watch the trailer). When he wakes up, the world is already infested with zombies. Of course he is terrified at first but later he picks up his wits and courage and begins a journey to find his wife and son who left when the apocalypse started.

Attitude: Tough, persistent, has the potential being a leader, caring, willing to save others (even the ones who are bitten)
Notable scene: He put a zombie out of its misery in the first episode.

This zombie has half a torso. It's quite persistent in the sense that it chases Rick even though its legs are gone. Rick, feeling pity for the monstrosity, put a bullet in its head.

Name: Lori Grimmes
Role:
As the wife of the primary protagonist, she leaves with her son to join a caravan with other survivors while Rick is still in the hospital. She is quite the mother figure but her devotion to her spouse is somewhat questionable. More details reveal later.
Attitude: Motherly, Panicky, Caring towards the women and children in the caravan
Notable scene: Having an affair with one of the main character XD

Name: Carl Grimmes
Role:

Son of both Rick and Lori, he escapes with his mother and join a group of survivors who reside at the outskirt of Atlanta. Do not judge him by his age for he proves his strength as fighter (that's in the comics anyway).

Attitude: Loving son, courageous (in the comics)

Name:Shane Walsh
Role:

The leader of the caravan before Rick's arrival. He escapes with Lori and Carl during the outbreak. He was Rick's partner and skilled in firearms. Though he looks after the group of survivors, do not be deceived for he is not what he seems to be.

Attitude: Skillful, adamant, self assertive, brutal, likes to be in command
Notable scene: He's the one who flirted with Lori XP


Name: Glen
Role:
He is of Korean descendant. He joins the group of survivors and likes to go off alone to the city to find supplies. He works well alone since he was previously a car thief due to his large amount of debts. He quickly befriends Rick whom he save on one occasion.
Attitude: Extrovert but doesn't like to talk about his past, able to focus during missions and personally I find him quite cute XD
Notable scene: He has to smear zombie goo all over his body.

Name: Andrea
Role:
One of the members of the survivors, she used to be a clerk at a law firm. She portrays herself as a strong female figure but she couldn't set her mind straight when it comes to emotional breakdown.
Attitude: Formidable
Notable scene: She has to shoot someone close to her (sorry, this is a big spoiler so I dun wan to reveal it ^^)

Name: Dale Horvath

Role:

He is the oldest guy in the group but do not let his age misguide you. He can handle severe situation independently. He's also good in firearms as well. Moreover, he survives more issues than the other prominent characters. (in comics)

Attitude: Independent, caring

Notable scene: He decapitates a zombie's head~

Truth be told, there are more characters but I'm too tired to type them all out and find relevant pictures of them. Go watch the series or read the comics to know them further.Lolx

The Synopsis

Dead people starts to rise from the grave, eating nearby meat, animals' as well. Soon, the world plunges into a war with the dead. The winner is obvious. Then this group of survivors is trying to find peace and solace where they can avoid the dead. The usual~~

So far there are only 5 episodes and the 6th is coming out this week. All of them are superb with gore and undead. Don't forget, this is broadcast in television, not the theaters. Hence, it is pretty impressive for them to depict such slaughter of both human and zombies on television. I think Malaysian TV will censor most parts because there are decapitation, mutilation, cannibalistic scenes, intestine pulled right out from the abdomen, etc. So, it is preferable to watch it from online. For gore and undead fans, you guys will definitely enjoy it.

And...not to burst your bubbles but there's only 6 episodes for season 1 (>.<) But they are making Season 2 now with 13 episodes ^^. And u gotta give them credit for making the series akin to a movie production.

Comics: Shadowland

Currently in the comic market, the latest Marvel comics with a number of tie-in and that which I find the most interesting would be Shadowland. Consisting of several limited series and one-shots, the storyline features some of the most well-known Marvel characters (to fans like me only). There're Moon Knight, Punisher, Spider Man, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Ghost Rider and Elektra.

Here's a bit of synopsis to those who are scratching their heads right now, wondering what the heck am I talking about.

First of all, the storyline's core character is DD a.k.a Daredevil (the guy on the left). He is seemingly the villain of the story but he claims that he's bringing justice to his hometown, Hell's Kitchen, by leading the secret ninja clan known as The Hand. How he become the leader of a society full of evil ninjas? That is for me to know and for you to refer back to the old Daredevil comics, prior to this event.

In conclusion, he thinks that he is able to convert an once evil ninja clan to do good under his leadership. He has nooooooo idea how wrong he is.

By proving that point, the first mistake he does is killing his arch-enemy, Bullseye.

As most fans know, Bullseye is an arch-enemy to both Daredevil and his once beloved, Elektra. During the events of the Dark Regin (another esoteric Marvel storyline which I can't explain in this tiny blog post), Bullseye destroys much of DD's neighborhood. By the power of "justice", DD killed him the same way Bullseye killed Elektra ages ago. Bullseye was impaled in the abdomen with a single sai (a type of Japanese weapon). *Imagine the pain*

(Note: Elektra was resurrected after her death by, guess who, The Hand, so that she might become their leader and brought forces of evil down on earth. Too bad it didn't last)

Moving on, this is why the other superheroes are skeptical about DD's so-called methods. In spite of the deviant black costume (his old outfit is red), murdering a villain, no matter how homicidal he is ain't exactly heroic, let alone legitimate. After that moment, a fight was ensured between the DD with his clan of ninjas and the other superheroes, primarily consisting of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Spiderman, Moon Knight and sundry others.

Soon, DD's reign of terror lies in conjunction with other Marvel characters' activities. None of them are too happy about that. Elektra joined DD's team for personal reason; Kingin and Lady Bullseye summon the Ghost Rider so that they can use the Rider's power to take down DD; Punisher is always on the spree of killing evildoers.

The series is still ongoing, so I can't afford much details. Plus, I'm sure that some of you do not appreciate the spoilers =D All I can say is, DD may not entirely be the villain behind this plot.
