WAR IS OVER~

"This is war; survival is your responsibility"quoted HUNK

I claimed this victory for myself!!! Well, the war maybe over and I'm still alive but there is still the aftermath. Let me tell you this...expect lots of casualties. Some are on mourning while others are waiting for Death himself.
Day 1: Battle of the Language.
On this day, we had to suffer 5 hours of essay writing and reading long tedious passages. It was insufferable. I had to squeeze out every ounce of my English knowledge onto the paper and I find it quite...unsatisfying. First of all, there wasn't enough time to write my essay and it was a topic I had prepared myself for. That was Language and Communication. The next exam was Business Communication. I didn't even know how to communicate with all these communication. Very frustrating indeed. For the latter, I had to endure the pain of writing two letters.
Day 2: Trials of Calculation
Economics was not on my list because no way in Hell was I going to learn that. The enemies were easily defeated on this day. Just one particular question was challenging. Plus, that enemy was using bio-weaponry and proximity against us. CURSE YOU!!!
Day 3: Adversity of Technology
Last day of the war. My teammates were facing the modern era and our adversary was technology itself. *Gasp* It forced us to answer its riddles, full of perplexing codes. Too bad I aced it XD

Now I am sitting here in Coffee Bean, catching my ride to elsewhere. It's a brand new day. And I'm so gonna waste myself this holiday...BOOYA!!!

Epilogue:
Deep in the dark, a mysterious evil still lurks around...something sinister is on its way but not towards me. Not the students. No. It's all our efforts, sweat and tears at the hands of our lecturers. Currently, they are suffering the aftermath of this war. All I can say is...good luck Teach, I'm still gonna enjoy MY holiday. WHAHAHAHA

The Battles Ahead

As all my course mates are stressing over, the Sem 2 examination is just a few days ahead. Frustrated are those who never listen in class; relaxed are the smartie-pants who only need to revise whatever was taught in class and for those who are carefree, they no need to worry because for these particular students, it's either they pass with flying colors or they fail horribly and still not caring about it. I am somewhat in between the smartie-pants and the carefree zone. If I was too studious, I wouldn't be writing this post now, would I?

Now to the war zone. The battle will start on the Wednesday, two days from now. It will be fierce and there will be bloodshed. Not all will survive this onslaught. Tears will be filled in the hallways for the pain inflicted will be excruciating. Below are the territories all FIA students must pass in order to finally end the war:

1) English - in this area, there are the presence of comprehension and essays which are mighty beast that tremble the hall with its headache-inducing words.

2)Business Communication - More essays and stuff to read. Somewhat similar to English zone. Expect more ming-boggling questions as well. By now, I estimate that most soldiers would be in trauma or coma even.

3)Economics - I'm not facing this challenge so I won't know the layout of this battlefield. May Godspeed to those who must traverse here.

4) Mathematics - As all soldiers converge again in this incalculable pathway. Many will die in battle here. This is where the bloodshed begins. Nausea and convulsion are to be considered as well.

5) Computer Science/Accounts - This is where the Eco troop may rest in serenity but it will be the final challenge for the Computer Savvy Team and the Calculus Warriors. They will make their final stand here.

All in all, this war will be tremendous and those who survive it, they will become stronger. No obstacles will block their pathway ever again. As for those who do not make it, may they rest in peace...or suffer the battle again in the future =D

Movie Review - Eat Pray Love

Sac: Hey, haven't watch movie for quite a while now...must watch ar this week
Me: Ok (smile). Which movie you wanna watch then?
Sac: Hmm...you search online and pick lor.
Me: KK
(Searching)
Me: Timing around 8pm right?
Sac: Yup
(Search some more)
Me: The only available ones are Eat Pray Love and The Child's Eye
Sac: Wuuu....Let's watch The Child's Eye
Me: O_O (Petrified)
(Cal appears out of nowhere)
Cal: I wanna join in as well!!!
Me: We are watching The Child's Eye.
Cal: >.<>
(huddle with Cal)
Sac: =.= fine~ Eat Pray Love then.

Staring Julia Roberts, this is movie is based on the book of the same name written by Elizabeth Gilbert. The book is a memoir detailing a woman seeking self-discovery after a nasty divorce because she couldn't achieve what she wanted in life. The country she had traveled in chronological order were Italy, India and Indonesia. The title was aptly named as she ate in Italy to satisfy herself and enjoy life itself; prayed in India to find her spiritual self and moved on from her past; lastly, understanding what true love was and the sacrifices we made for it.

Honestly, when I first saw the novel and the movie poster, my head was saying "not another chick book/movie". It was obvious that the genre of the movie was romance with all the lovey-dovey content and dramatic scenes. Then again, after watching the movie, I found myself laughing instead of crying non-stop. True, it was still a romantic film but enjoyable enough for girls and sensitive guys like me =P

Some of the scenes were hilarious due to the cultural clash experienced by the main character. Hence, I was laughing. Moreover, the movie did taught several valuable lessons regarding love and life. We must enjoy life for it is too short. Life is full of wonders and mystery but nowadays we tend to neglect it and waste our life in front of the TV screen. Like Liz, we should go explore around the world instead of waiting for something to happen to us. As for love, it's a mass of complexity. (Watch the movie then you'll know) Plus, Julia Roberts was awesome in the film.

To summarize this review, even though Eat Pray Love may just be another chick flick, it is still worth watching. Those who despise the theatre, buy the book. It's equally enjoyable. With that, I give the film a 4 out of 5 =)

K-Pop pops in my head

With all the non-stop airplay of SNSD and K-Pop addicts' singing in college, it isn't a surprise that I fall victim to K-Pop sooner or later =.=

Truth be told, my fondness for Korean Pop songs didn't start out this year. The seed was planted last year while I was in lower 6. Hard to believe but I was a librarian back then =P

As one of the staff members, I had to perform a show during the librarian's annual gathering. My obsessed friends picked Sorry Sorry by Super Junior because K-Pop was gradually on the rise back then. On the other hand, I had never heard of any Korean Pop song or whatsoever. Even with the mention of Super Junior, my mind went blank. As for the performance, I had no choice but to perform it since it was selected based on majority.
I might say that I was slowly addicted to K-Pop after that night but it was short-lived. Also, I never bothered to expand my territory with SuJu as the only Korean band in my music list. A while later, my taste for K-Pop dissipated.

Now, after a long hiatus, the virus had came back.
The source of the virus: my lecturer and some of my friends. Thanks(sarcastically) =/

The problem now is that there are too many Korean bands out there. I have no idea where they all magically appear from. The sad part is their music all sound the same (to me of coz XD). However, I'm only hooked on to a selected few bands - SNSD.....I guessed that's it XP
And of course, I'm currently listen to No Other by SuJu. Guess my immunity was too low to fight the K-Pop virus T_T

(PS THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!)

I'm Coming Out

Truth be told, I have never celebrated any LGBT events and there's no better way to celebrate my first LGBT event with National Coming Out Day. So whoever is reading this post, well, I'm coming out of the closet now and I am proud to say I am a LGBT member ^_^
National Coming Out Day
Not to say I wasn't always out of my closet just that the door was always ajar, not entirely open. But now, by the power I vested in this blog, I'm gonna reveal to everyone that I AM GAY or bisexual or....ok, I'm kinda sexually confused nowadays. I shall discuss that another time =P

A brief description about this particular event: it is celebrated on October 11 annually but in UK, the date is October 12. Part of the LGBT awareness campaign, this event is to encourage LGBT members not to be ashamed of their sexuality and that they are equally human as everyone else.

Now, to all the LGBT out there. I know it's hard to come out under certain conditions. Your family may kick you out of the house, your friends tend to avoid you just because you are different and you will probably face unemployment but do not even change just because you are special. Heck, being unique helps us stand out in the crowd. Maybe this year isn't your year to come out but it's alright because there's always next year. You need not force yourself to reveal your deepest secret yet, just don't ever lie to yourself about who you really are.

But if Armageddon comes first, then you need to think twice~

Undead Origin Part 1: Eating A Zombie's Brain

"Brainssss~"
We all saw it in the movies and we all killed it in the games but does one really know exactly how does a person turn into a living undead a.k.a a zombie?
(Note: the zombies I'm going to discuss about in this post are those decayed cannibalistic mobile corpses, not the type of mindless zombies who stare at computer or TV screen whole day long)

There are several origins as to how a zombie comes to be. Cultures and folklore are some of the factors for the existence of this walking dead. Science fiction is to be blamed as well for human imagination has gone wild. Likewise, one must acknowledge the fact that the rising of the dead contains some biblical aspects.

But for this post, I will talk about the scientific characteristics of a zombie. (Those who despise science, you may skip this post and wait for the next one)
When a human being turns into the living undead, the brain is the main organ affected. The decaying skin and rotting odor are the aftermath. As all neurologists know, the brain is categorized into several parts, each with its own specific functions.
1) Frontal lobe
First off, we have the frontal lobe. As you can see, it's the blue area above of the brain. This part of the brain mostly deals with attention, planning and long term memory. In order words, this part of the brain influences our sense and the way we come up solutions to solve our problems. That's for breathing human beings. For a zombie, the frontal lobe proves to be dysfunctional. However, according to my source, Dr. Steven C. Schlozman explained that zombies can still see and hear us. Also, the frontal lobe may relate to zombies' behavior - their impulsiveness. Once they are alert that there are preys around them, the usual slow movement and limping will turn into an aggressive movement so they may seize their prey. Normally, when someone pisses you off, you will have the tendency to punch them in the face but our frontal lobe intervenes. Stopping our impulsiveness to punch the person even if that person is an asshole. Hence, the frontal lobe of a zombie is partially affected, rendering them losing their control over their impulsiveness while still able to sense meat.

2) Amygdala
I love this word. This is a pair of almond-shaped group of nuclei, reciting in the temporal lobe of the brain. Amygdala controls human emotions. Clearly, the amygdala of zombies are affected as zombies can only feel rage as they will attack on sight.

3) Anterior Cingulate Cortex
The balance between the frontal lobe and the amygdala is maintained by the anterior cingulate cortex. This section of the brain modulates our anger, lust and among other messed up feelings that we have. Without this part of the brain, a person cannot maintain their feelings and they may cause unnecessary outburst.

4) Cerebellum and Basal Ganglia
As for these two lovelies, they make the fluidity of motion possible. Regarding zombies' gait, they are always seen limping or shuffling, never do they walk properly with every single stride. Hence, the cerebellum and basal ganglia are deeply affected
Illu diencephalon .jpg
5) Hypothalamus
The hypothalamus is located just above the brain stem. Essentially, this particular part of the brain maintains our meals. We know that we are hungry when the hypothalamus senses that it is time to eat. For zombies, it is obviously that this part the brain of theirs are damaged. Their hungers are insatiable and they tend to eat, chow, stuff themselves till there are no food left on the planet.

The above informations are derived from here. Those who are interested to find out more may read this.

So that's the end of the Undead Origin Part 1. Stay tune for more if you want to stay alive and fend off zombies in the impending zombie apocalypse

Movie Review - The Devil

The other day I went to the cinema with a friend of mine (I will call him Jacky here) =P
There were a list of movies to choose from: Eat Pray Love, The Devil, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Charlie St Clouds, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga' hoole.

Knowing a person like me, Wall Street was the first to go out. I hate movies that deal with economy and business. Those two are a major sleep-inducer for me. Next was Charlie St Cloud. It had a bit of psychological aspect to it but due to the presence of Zac Efron, I'm sorry Charlie but I can't watch you. After that, we had Legend of the Gurdians. Now I always have this fondness for owls but this movie on the other hand wasn't on my list. I still love owls though ^^

That left us with Eat Pray Love and The Devil. Readers, understand this. I have no whatsoever biasness against chick flicks. I know they are boring and too sensitive for some men but for me, let's just say I'm special =P As for The Devil, my masculine side was pestering me to watch it. In the end, it won.

(Warning: Spoiler detected!)
For those who has little ideas about what the movie is about, here's the layout of it. It was directed by John Erick Dowdle, the guy who directed another horror film - Quarantine. However, the story was devised by M Night Shyamalan. Yes, the idiot who ruined Airbender for us. But the movie was surprising good with its plot twist. According to him though, this movie is set to be a trilogy called The Night Chronicles.

Moving on, the story centered on several characters and a detective who had a dark past. Now, these particular people were heading to a building, each with their own agendas. The building was told and early in the movie, someone committed suicide on one of the floors. (MYSTERIOUS)

While the detective, played by Chris Messina, was investigating the suicide, the other major characters were riding an elevator. It stopped half way with no apparent reason. Slowly, the people in the elevator were killed off one by one and it turned out they weren't so innocent at all. As the movie progressed, it was determined that one of the people in the elevator was the devil himself, seeking to torment those who sinned.

Typical storyline but as I said before, it has a nice plot twist. Those who are smart enough, they can predict outcome a hour into the movie. Sadly, I wasn't that smart.

Overall, I give the movie a 4 out of 5. And be careful, you never know who's watching you...

Back Again to the Holy Ground

It's that day of the week again. Church~

Again, I was quite surprised because I was able to drag myself out of my comfy bed with a soft pillow and Penggy besides me. I even got the urge to use my man tool but somehow I hesitated.

Next thing I knew, I was waiting for the bus to come fetch me to Acts Church. The other day, I found out that my lecturer was an attendant of the church as well which gave me a whole lot of reason to mess with her life. Whahahaha.....

The service was just as enjoyable as last week's. On the other hand, I was holding my bladder towards the end of the sermon and I'm sorry to say, I wasn't paying attention at the last few moment of it. After all the prayers were made, *rush to the washroom*

As for lunch, I had a quick one with the lecturer I mentioned earlier. Then, she dropped me off at Pyramid and now, I'm stuck here with a mount load of assignments =.= (One of it is from her)

God, where are you??? =/

I want my teenage dream

Recently, I have been hooked on Katy Perry's latest song - Teenage Dream. As her second single from her latest album, this song details how a guy makes her feel as if she's still a teenager when we were all still happy-go-lucky and less worried about life. Ya, the good old days.

However, not of us had a wondrous teen life. Some of us were suicidal and emo-ing all year round. Family was making it worst while there were no friends to depend on. A person to be taken as an example would be me.

Yes, this childish playful and sometimes obnoxious young adult was on the verge of ending his own life once. Sad to say, I really couldn't find any reasons to live any longer. My family was unhelpful in every way while my best buddies...well, I was pretty much a loner. Not to say that I didn't have any friends but I just couldn't start a conversation with them due to my "peculiarity". There were a few but still, I rarely stayed in the conversation with them.

The only people I could chat with was my teachers, especially my Form 4 English teacher and my bio teacher. They were the best remedy for loneliness. In spite of my comfort talking to my teachers, other students found it hard to accept the fact that a student could bond with his teacher. Basically, I was a teacher pet.

In a way, I didn't really get to enjoy my adolescence years and after listening to this song, I wish I did. But time has passed and I'm getting older. The thought of living a FUN teenage dream seems unlikely. But who knows, maybe it will come true one day. Just gotta keep my hopes up but I still pessimistic as well. LOL

By the way, I know I sound self-centered here but this is my blog so I can write whatever I want =P

(P.S enjoy the song ^_^)
